The Crowsnest Pass Doors Open and Heritage Festival is held on the long weekend in August that includes the Heritage Day holiday. The event is community-wide, taking in all of the communities of the Crowsnest Pass. The focus of the festival is the heritage of the Crowsnest Pass. Guided hikes, garden tours, cemetery tours and heritage building tours are all part of the "Doors Open" programming. The Heritage Festival will include special programming at the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, Bellevue Underground Mine Tour, Crowsnest Pass Museum and many other locations throughout the Crowsnest Pass.
Driving Directions
The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is located in the southwest corner of Alberta. Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) runs through Crowsnest Pass and its five component communities (Bellevue, Hillcrest, Frank, Blairmore and Coleman). Activities on the Crowsnest Pass Doors Open and Heritage Festival weekend take place in all five communities. The special edition newspaper has maps of all of the communities.
Event Setting
The Crowsnest Pass Doors Open and Heritage Festival takes place throughout the Crowsnest Pass. Some of the events and activities take place over the entire four-day weekend (Friday-Monday), and other events are on specific days. The event focusses on each of the communities that make up the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass.
Pricing
There is no admission fee to the Doors Open and Heritage Festival, although some of the individual events may have an admission fee.
