Natural history education meets fly fishing on the premier trout streams of southwest Alberta. Discover the biology of a trout stream, learn to read a river, refine your casting techniques, and practice fly tying. Learn about varieties of trout and the fine art of catch-and-release angling. Species of fish include: rainbow trout, brown trout, speckled trout, and bull trout. Take in the serenity of Canada's southern Rockies and what have been described as the country's most picturesque and bountiful trout streams.
This 6-day package adventure includes field trips to the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, Bellevue Mine, Crowsnest Museum and optional mountain hikes. Lodging will be at Country Encounters in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta.

Day 1: Independent Arrivals/Orientation
Dinner: Dinner at the B&B

Day 2: Mechanics of FlyFishing/Fishing Crowsnest River
Breakfast: Breakfast from 8:00 am -9:00 am. Morning: PRESENTATION: Mechanics of Fly Fishing. A morning instructional session will cover the mechanics of fly fishing including: rod preparation, fly tying, and casting. HANDS-ON
EXPERIENCE: Dry land practice. Securing of fishing licenses, and time for hands-on dry land practice.
Lunch: Bag lunch in field.
Afternoon: FISHING: Afternoon fishing session on one of the local streams with personalized instruction. Fish tales to follow in late afternoon to share experiences and ask questions.
Dinner: Dinner at B&B
Evening: HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE: Fly Tying. An evening session will focus on fly tying. Instruction and practice lead by a fly tying expert; includes hands on experience.

Day 3: Fishing Continues/Crowsnest Museum

Lunch: Bag lunch in field.
Afternoon: FISHING: Continuation of fishing field trip; fish tales lounge information sharing.
Dinner: At the B&B.
Evening: EVENING ACTIVITIES: Fishing on Crowsnest river or interpretive trip to historical sites.

Afternoon: Continuation of fishing session. FIELD TRIP: Underground Coal Mine.
