February 12-15, 2021. Join Flathead Audubon and Lone Pine State Park in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count. Treat yours, young and adult, to a morning field trip in the Kalispell, Bigfork and Swan River area. Birders will experience our local avian residents in their winter world. Birders will learn about our winter songbirds, count winter birds at feeders, and also explore other local areas for wintering residents, such as, Trumpeter Swans and Pygmy Owls.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create real-time snapshots of where birds are. It is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society. To sign up, call trip leader Kathy (406) 837-3837. Birders of all ages, especially families with children, are welcome, free of charge.

Lone Pine State Park event date TBA. Come up to the visitor center and learn the basics of birding, play games, and take part in our bird activities to potentially win prizes. Free of charge.
