Construction of the train depot began in the late 1800's and was finished in 1908. In the early 1950's, President Truman planned to ride the train into Columbia Falls for the inauguration of the Hungry Horse Dam. The train depot wasn't suitable for his visit, so it was moved off the tracks to make room for a new depot. It was cut into thirds and moved to its current location. The eastern end of our building still has all the original wood ceilings, walls and floors. The depot also has the original transom windows and a few original paned windows. A fun place for train enthusiasts to explore. Come in and see the treasures we found in the walls!
We are located at 38 Hwy 2 East, just on your left if driving eastbound into Columbia Falls. We are a white building with a wrap around deck. If driving westbound on Hwy 2 take a right just after the last stop light at Nucleus Ave.
