Meander through lush cedar groves into the heart of Haskill Basin. At just 1.5 miles from the trailhead enjoy unique views of Montana's Whitefish Range from the Haskill Lake Overlook or connect 5.5 miles all the way back to town at the Reservoir Trailhead.

Driving Directions from Nearest Town or Landmark

Take Wisconsin Ave north from Whitefish and turn right on to Big Mountain Road. 3.2 miles up, in the road bend just past Ptarmigan Village and Lookout Ridge, the Big Mountain Trailhead is located on the right side of the road and is open year round.

The Big Mountain Trailhead, located just below Whitefish Mountain Resort, provides year round access to 5.5 miles of the Whitefish Trail through Haskill Basin, and winter access to 23 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails. Meander through lush cedar groves, take the single track trail all the way down to the new Reservoir Trailhead, or tie into the many gated roads in Haskill Basin. This trailhead features a large parking area with an ADA compliant vault toilet.
